NAPA, CA (June 16, 2016) - The NASA Championship format has 2 qualifying races, which will set your starting position for the Championship race on Sunday. With this great facility, we have the unique opportunity to give our drivers a variation and additional challenge during this pinnacle event. Thus, Friday qualifying races will feature 2 additional turns as we begin the competition portion of the event with race course configuration #1 that includes the section of track known as “bus stop.” For the subsequent days and Championship finale race, we will switch to the more open race course configuration #25 which will give competitors more passing opportunities in this longer and extremely competitive event. This will likely come as great news to any out of region competitors planning on attending the event because this is not a configuration the usual NASA SoCal competitors typically uses.
